I have a 2 year old+- chi/mix that I rescued approximately 1 year ago. I took her to my vet for her check up and they did blood, urine and feces tests. Her ALT came back at 1200. My vet wants me to do further testing including an ultrasound etc. I recently started her back on Heartguard plus (about 24 days ago) and have read that this medicine contains pyrantel which can elevate the ALT levels. I immediately changed her diet to a lowfat GI food as suggested by the vet and started giving her prohepatic vitamins. This was just 2 days ago, Thursday. My vet wants to do another blood panel on Monday. Is that long enough to see a difference if it was caused by the Heartguard or something environmental or should I wait a bit longer? Thank you for your help.
