its the SOLO JEC 5....it does not contain the mutated strain of PARVO
i also tried to get a refund from Doctor Foster and Smith where i ordered them from and they denied responsibility
we recently vaccinated 6 pups all in training to be service dogs and two of them passed this week from Parvo, One was with a 4 year old child and the other with a 17 year old...They are both devastated.. Not only the financial aspect is devastating but also the emotional especially on these children...They should be banned from selling this vaccine.
Yes I had the same exact thing just happen to me I normally use spectra five way but solo jec was what the feed store had this time and that is what I got to vaccinate the last of the litter and yes now every one of the pups done with solo jec are sick and parvo positive
Thanks so much for posting, I'm so sorry for your loss and situation, I currently have 2 week old goldens and I'm looking into vaccines. I feel so thankful that I googled health concerns solo-jec 5 plus, as I was thinking about ordering it, and revival was one of the sites I was on, although they are a dollar more expensive than the Doctors Foster and Smith website. In any event, best of luck with getting compensated for your loss, I agree with all the comments you have gotten so far, and want to thank you again so much for sharing your experience, I would so devasted, as I'm sure you were. So sorry!
I have done shots for dog and puppies for 13 years and have NEVER had any reactions or issues with vaccinations, we recently rescued a puppy(a puppy we were going to keep) and purchased some of these vaccinations to give her and a few other pups we had rescued. On 3-6-13 we gave her first set and she whimpered just a bit and I didn't think much about it (since I never had any issues before) and then gave her 2nd set on 4-6-13 at 6:00 pm, she died Sunday morning. I will tell you I gave the shots to 5 other puppies with no issues, but 1 out of 6 could be your puppy. So are you willing to take that chance? My puppy was otherwise healthy as can be, she died the day after her 2nd set of these shots. Please beware DON'T take the chance. I called revivals customer service and they act like it wasn't the shots, but I have NEVER had a puppy just die within 16 hours of a shot, so I believe otherwise. They also seemed pretty heartless when I called like I was an idiot for evening calling about it. PLEASE DO NOT ORDER!!! DO NOT TAKE THE CHANCE. My kids were so upset and not to mention customer service was very rude. I spent 500 here and I won't ever buy another thing from them
I would be careful about accepting a refund before seeking legal advice. Accepting a refund may constitute closure.
Yes, the aftermath of Parvo is a difficult issue to deal with. The cleaning protocol is tough. It is disgusting that this kind of problem, and the death of those puppies, has been laid on your doorstep, because the vaccine manufacturers did everything wrong!
I feel they should be "hauled over the coals"
I totally agree that they owe more than a refund, but doubt that I'll ever see it. I kept 4 vaccines back to test and sent them the remainder. Hopefully I'll find an independent lab that can test them for me. I have yet to hear from Boehringer-Ingelheim, the manufacturer, but will be giving them a call tomorrow as well. Revival supposedly sent them a notice about my complaint. I'm just hoping and praying that the new litter that I have will not get it. I'm going to start vaccinating with small doses at 5 weeks and see if that works. Everythings been disinfected, but I know the germ will always be here now. Thats realy hard to take. I've been breeding for 26 years and have never had any kind of disease on my property, but now because of a careless manufacturer I will have to deal with this aftermath for who knows how long. :(
How horrible for you!! I am SO sorry to hear this!
As soon as Revival Animal Health is open for business I would be on the phone with their Technical Services department demanding an explanation for what happened. Something is wrong somewhere because it's too coincidental that ALL of the puppies that were vaccinated with their product are dead of one of the diseases the vaccine was supposed to protect against, and puppies that were vaccinated with a different product against the same disease are alive and well. Revival needs to compensate you for those puppies as well as all the expenses you put into them, up to and including the stud fee that you paid for your b*tch to be bred. You need to return the leftover vaccines to them for testing, but keep one back so that, depending on the results you get from them, you can send it to an independent lab for testing on your own. If their results come back that there was nothing wrong with their vaccine, you need to send a vial in to an independent lab to see what someone who has no horse in the race, figuratively speaking, has to say about it. PLEASE keep us up to date on what is happening with this and what you find out when they send the leftover vaccine in for testing. This should NEVER have happened!
Ghilly
How very sad, and you acted in good faith. I am so sorry you lost those puppies.
A refund?? You need a HECK of a lot more than a refund! Boehringer-Ingelheim Vetmedica Inc need the pants sueing off them!
I would recommend seeing a Lawyer a.s.a.p. It's good that you still have some vaccines. Hang on to them! Also ANY proof of purchase...correspondence....invoices... whatsoever
Yes you need to get these lab-tested. I can't recommend a lab for you as I live far away in the UK, but somene else may be able to help you here.
