Sick Dog

I have a Cocker Spanual that is 9 and seams to have a cold runny nose and eye's , has to be bribed to eat his food, what do you give a dog that has a cold to get rid of it it hsa bee about two weeks so far and it is not leaving his poor little body, can you give them the same thing you give people just a lot less or not?

Yes you're right puppies get worms, but adult dogs get them. Usually I would have my dog wormed once a year even if parasites didn't show in the test because sometimes it comes back negative yet they still have them. Some dogs pick up worms from feces that might be left behind on the grass where a dog owner picked up their dogs stool. And dogs can also get hookworms from eating dirt which if they are playing in the yard. Even digging in the dirt and putting their nose in the hole could cause them to pick up worms.

Its best to speak to your vet about having the dog wormed because if he hasn't been wormed since he was a pup he most definitely has them.

Planning on taking him to vet on Monday, hae to have the cash to do it just thought that that might help him dont think it is wormes he is 9 yrs old and thats something that puppies get or so I thought.

No, you can't give a dog cold medicine that people take. That would be very dangerous and could kill him. You can't give him any amount not even a small amount.

You need to take him to a vet if his eating habits have been off for 2 weeks. There is a possibility he needs to be wormed but whatever it is he needs to be seen by a vet to make sure its nothing serious.
