My Pomeranium

Have you ever heard of removal of milk ducts due to not being allowed to have puppies before being spayed? The milk ducts are increasing in size. I did not have her when she was younger. She is approx.6-7 years old now.

He just said her milk ducts were getting larger and would become more painful to her as she got older. I can tell they are hurting her sometimes due to the way you may pick her up or touch her. I am going to have to try to get her surgery done sometime. It could be like you said tumors.                   Pam

Now I don't know all there is to know about the cost of a mastectomy but that price doesn't seem too bad to me. Did the vet give you a definite diagnosis? What, medically, was wrong?

Thank you for your reply
I only know what the vet said and that it would cost anywhere from $250.00-$300.00

Even though she has been spayed, I think if her milk ducts are increasing in size, it's likely to point to either a form of mastitis, or a form of tumor, or something being wrong there. That is probably why your vet suggested having them removed.
I have never heard of them having to be removed simply for the reason that "she was not allowed to have puppies before being spayed" If a vet has suggested removing them, there has to be a medical reason.

In an unspayed female, teats can enlarge, usually a few weeks after a 'heat cycle' and in this case it's known as a "False Pregnancy"
