I have a lab/shepherd mix who is about a year old, and he23 chews....We tried sprays, we tried punishment, we tried distractions....nothing seems to work. He has eaten everything from shoes, plungers, bras, the hardwood floor, the pillar (we have an old house) the legs of my coffee table, his own cage, electrical cords, mud, sticks, doors.....The only thing we could do was get him a cage, and that was his punishment, was to have his nose rubbed in it, and put in his cage for a bit. His chewing has slowed down, but now he thinks the kids HAVE to play with him 24/7...and his way of playing is to run full force at them, and knock them over, and my two year old does not find that fun. lol
Now my 5 month old husky on the other hand....He is a terror!!! He will scratch at his tray that he sits on in his cage, gets it to slide out, pees on the floor under it then lays back on the tray...lol He eats EVERYTHING in sight!! We have lost 5 pairs of shoes to him, a phone cord, a laptop charger, kids clothes, rolls among rolls of toilet paper, the arms of the couch, dishes, carpet, chairs, wallpaper....lol just about everything he can get in his mouth!!!! I have bought him bones, those 'kong' things that you can fill with treats or peanut butter, we bought him a rope, a squeaky toy...but he would rather chew on what he isnt supposed to have. We try the punishment with him of rubbing his nose in it and putting him in his cage, but he will just eat his cage, he already ate through one entire giant plastic mat that are in the xlarge dog cages. We downsized him to a smaller cage, and put up a divider so he has limited room, because everyone says, they wont potty where they sleep, but this dog is smart enough to move the plastic and pee on the floor...lol
Any suggestions for either dog? They get non stop attention unless they are in their cages...they run ALOT...they are outside all the time, the kids go run with them outside, my husband and I go play fetch and chase them outside, they go for car rides with us, they get plenty of food....They are just completely high strung and hyper, and we dont have any clue what to do with them.
Oh, and my husky, will just randomly pee while he is walking, and doesnt even realize hes peeing...I have a trail through my entire house usually about three times a month, he isnt over stimulated and goes out of excitement cuz hes usually just looking for a spot to lay down when it happens...Any ideas for that one either?!?
lol thanks so much!!
