does phenobarbital 60 mg cause drowsiness to dogs

Kindly help me with the above question.
I am giving my dog 2 times a day the phenobarbital 60 mg and since Monday he is all day depressed, he is down  and in a bad mood. Does this pill cause him drowsiness? and if yes will this pass eventually?

Glad you calked your Vet.  I do know the meds can cause that and I think they eventually adjust.  Does the Vet know the cause! I really have no experience with seizures in any of my animals, thank goodness, but there have been those on the forums that have.  Hope some of them will see this and respond.  Do a search to see if you can find past discussions.
Best of luck!

I have never had to use it but, yes it can.
Is this for seizures?  I hope you are not self medicating with this drug.
If your Vet prescribed this, you should call them and voice your concerns as they are your best source if information and a possible dose adjustment may be needed
