Hello, i agree with lindapalm, however depending on the level of hyperness your dog has my concern is if he is jumping up on people or yipping a lot when people enter. What I'd personally do is either spot training or crate training. Where the dog has to sit and stay in a designated spot (generally used to dentate by something particular for the dog to sit on, a box or stool, or in the case of crate  training than obviously be in the crate) till he is commanded that it is "ok" to approach. training can be difficult depending on what you are used to i'll grant you that, but sit/stay commands I find especially important. oh and as far as crate training, I'd say read up on it, a lot of people associate it with negative things like the dog being locked up all the time, but thats not really true. you could also look into training classes which is not only good for your dog to be active and learning but a great bonding too.  thats my two cents.

Do not let anyone new pet or pay attention to him at first, wait until he is calmed down.  Totally ignore him.  If he pees when you walk in the door cause  he's glad to see you, ignore him until he's calm before you say anything or pet him, even turn around and walk away from him if you have to.  Good Luck.
