Dog whines when touched

It started approximately a week ago, my 3 y/o pit bull mix started yelping when jumping on the sofa. He can't run, either. He has troubles going up and down the stairs. We thought he had injured his back leg, took him to a vet, where they touched and pulled on his rear legs, and he didn't make a sound. Today when I slightly touched his lower back he yelped again. I tried touching his lower back from the opposite side, same thing happened. And I barely touched him. He also usually follows me everywhere around the house, but after the incident, he went to his bed and didn't leave it. He doesn't limp or anything, walks normally, so it doesn't seem like he's injured. What could it be?

I really don't know what this could be, but I recommend you take him to another vet for a 2nd opinion. It could possibly be something neurological. Or something affecting his spine.
