What's wrong with him?

I have a 15 year old German Shepherd who has problems with arthritis in his hind legs. Last night he fell(it happens on a somewhat regular basis) and ended up falling down my basement step. He is not a very active dog overall, so him being lazy the rest of the night did not concern me. He was concious, and we were able to get him to get up and walk a little i checked all of his paws legs and ribs for tenderness he did not seem to reactwith any whincing or whining so we thought he was okay. Today he seems really twitchy though and he is having a REALLY bad time with his back legs. I dont know if he hurt his leg sometimes he has problems with them but today seems worse, and i have never seen the twitching before. it is subtle no major colvulsing, just twitching. I cant get him into the vet until monday(Today is friday) and I simply dont have any money to take him to the ER. What should i do? I am thinking about giving him an aspirin in case he is in pain bc i know that is ok for dags but i am worried what if he is bleeding or something internally. What do i do? also he does seem a bit less alert than usual. he will look at you if you call him, but he does not really seem to be as responsive almost like he is in a fog is how i'd describe it. ANY IDEAS

every state has a emergency vet on call at any hour of the day. Its seems your dog is suffering.

It would be best to take him to an out-of-hours vet if you can. Doesn't your regular vet have someone on-call out of hours? Usually when you call the number the message gives you an out of hours number to call....(They may not have that where you are. I don't know for sure as I live in England)

Otherwise your option is the ER vet. It could be he has hurt his spine. If arthritis affects his legs and hips it could well affect his spine too. It might have just ticked along without much problem, except the fall could have jolted something. Did he fall a long way? Or really badly?

The best is not to give him aspirin, but to get a doggy painkiller anyway, something like Rimadyl. As this is an anti inflammatory too it could well help him.

I do hope he has some more time, and this isn't the end for him. But of course if you find after all the investigations have been done, that there is no medicine that will help him, it may be time to face that most sad thing....letting him go in peace.
But maybe don't make that decision until you have all the facts. In order to get those, you will need to take him to a vet, even if it means borrowing the money somehow....

they cannot c him. the dr is out of the offfice until monday.
The dog is really old and in poor health. It's been a slow decline in health and i think he is going to be completely honest. I called the ER they said it sounds like seizures. I just want to make him comfortable. We know and have known that he was getting toward the end, but i dont want to c him suffer. What can i do?

Do not give him aspirin.  Call your vet and see if he can see him today.
