Chronic Granular Pharyngitis

Dear Doctor,

I’m a female of 40 yrs., a housewife a with two children, 11 and 4. For the last 3 months, I am having some problems with my throat. The symptoms generally are loss of voice while speaking, itchiness in the throat, continuous dry cough and whenever I touch cold water, the symptoms intensifies. I went to the ENT surgeon and the diagnosis was Chronic Granular Pharyngitis. I’m taking Loratin fast and Racifer as medications.
I’m really very much worried about this problem as this has been depressing me a lot. Are there any medications or better way of treatment to this problem.

I' am a 25yr old female and I have red bumps on the back of the throat, I had a sore throat for two days with a runny nose, everything has cleared up other than the bumps on the back of my throat, my doctor gave me a nasal spray for post nasal drainage, along with the bumps on the back of my throat I feel like I' am constantly swallowing and feel like there's something stuck in my throat. What else can the red bumps on the back of my throat be they don't hurt and this also happened last winter but not as bad and I don't remember having this feeling of something stuck in my throat?

Dear Doctor,

I am 26 years old from odisha and I am also suffering from Chronic Granular Pharyngitis since last 10 years. when the pharyngitis occurs, I usually got to local ENT doctors and they prescribes me  a dose of Azithromycin  250mg X 6 that I take 500mg in the first 24 hours and then 250mg in the next 4 days/24 hours. it works and I feel better for a period of 3 to months but after this period it starts again and again I have to take that dose of Azithromycin (anti-biotic) for treatment.
I am not drinking alcohol nor I smoke but honestly, sometimes I can not avoid eating spicy food and cold water.

is there any treatment  to permanently get rid of this chronic granular pharyngitis? please advice.

Hi uttam30us,

Your doctor has made a correct diagnosis, but I have my own doubts regarding the treatment he has prescribed. Let me explain to you, I think your symptoms are because of retrograde flow of gastric contents to the upper aero-digestive tract, which causes a variety of symptoms, such as cough, hoarseness and irritation in the throat (Laryngo-pharyngeal reflux).

Please do stop taking Loratin as it will worsen your throat irritation because this drug causes dryness of the throat and the vocal cords. I would like to advise you to consume plenty of warm water, avoid coffee/tea/fizzy drinks/chilled items for few days. Continue taking Raciper 40mg (half hour before food) remember you should drink plenty of warm water that will hydrate the mucosa and also reduces the irritation. Any more doubts you are welcome.

Regards
