Hi,
The following features seem to be like "atrophic rhinitis", in case of "allergic rhinitis" there will be either early morning sneezing/ running nose and sneezing episodes whenever he is exposed to dust or smoke, reduced smell and stuffy nose.
Atrophic rhinitis includes dry nose, nasal block, bleeding from the nose, decreased sense of smell and foul smell coming from the nose.
Its good to use saline nasal drops, as well encourage him to drink plenty of water and take vitamins containing Vitamin A&D. Please do consult your ENT specialist to look for any other problems.

Sorry, forgot to type in my earlier post, I would recommend him following up with an ENT Specialist who deals with allergies as well.
I love saline sprays and rinses because they don't have the harsh side effects.
Try it and keep us posted about how it worked for him.
He has never had allergy issues, or so we thought. That's an excellent idea. We will try that. Thank you.
Sounds allergy-related.
Has he tried any nasal saline sprays and/or rinses?
