Smell & Taste Disorder

ENT Doctor - I have a smell and taste discorder for 11 weeks now. My first sympton was a sweet sickly smell about 6 weeks after a bad virus. After a few weeks of that, my gums bled and the taste problem began immediately. I went to a dentist first and he cleaned up the gum/root infection. That was over 10 weeks ago. I then went to an ENT and he did a CT scan that showed no "fissure". I have been on two anti-biotics, Amoxycillin and Clindamycin.  I think the virus may be the cause. Is there a blood test to see if I could still have an infection that another antibiotic might work on? I've found that wearing nose plugs allows me to eat more foods. Everything smells bad or sickeningly sweet. Even things like toothpaste, shampoo and soap. I am able to eat ice cream, lemon flavored sweets, tomatoes, and most fruit without the nose plugs. Do you know of a plug that could be inserted into the nose and therefore less visible?  Could a virus cause this? If so will it ever go away? Is there any treatment that could help? Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated  Thank you for your help.  "Peggy"

Why didn't I ever get an answer to my question? I thought an ENT or doctor answered the posted questions. It is now 4 1/2 months since anything has smelled normal or tasted normal without wearing a nose plug. I was praying to get some help with this.
