I had the same symptoms. Does it feel like someone punched you while you were sleeping? Kinda like a pimple growing within the skin of your nose (just to the side of the bridge)? I went to urgent care, and they told me it was facial cellulitis. I'm currently on day 2 of taking an antibiotic called Bactrim, and it seems to be working. The scary thing is that what we have could be a form of steph (?). If it gets in the eye, and since it's so close to your brain, that could be extremely dangerous. I hope this helps!
I understand you have been told you skin isn't what hurts.. is there no redness or other irritated appearance? It hurts inside, like on the bone surface, not inside the nose?
Can you make an appointment to see an ENT without an referral? If so you may want to try to get a check up - just an office visit here would cost a couple hundred dollars (or more) if not covered by insurance. But my limited experience with an ENT who did follow up work on an ER treatment of a troublsome bleeding nose did a complete exam of my nasal passages (visible only) and that didn't take a lot of time and no additional lab test/cost. I have not had any further bleeding problems, it has been a couple of months. I mention only as my experience with an ENT and the conclusion that a simple office check may be all you need to diagnose your pain problem.
