Left Side of Neck shows few enlarged cervical lymphnodes ". Doctor said it is a condition called "Recurrent parotitis in Childhood " , Is it correct ,what is the causes for this and how we can prevent in future.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there,
Recurrent parotitis is an immunologically mediated condition. the lack of pus A clinical diagnosis can often be confirmed by ultrasound. The bacterial infection is thought to involve flora ascending from the oral cavity.   These infections  never produce frank pus unlike adults. Penicillin VK is a good choice for acute infections. In addition, massage, warmth, good oral hygiene, sialogogues are also helpful. These conservative measures may decrease the frequency of attacks. If medical treatment fails, parotid duct ligation, tympanic neurectomy, and parotidectomy are other  options. Affected children should be screened immune deficiency and  Sjogren's syndrome. For that you need to see an ENT specialist and get examined. This is merely an advice and not a substitute for clinical examination. Hope it helps.
Good luck and take care!
