Anne, please be advised that having "no other symptoms of sinusitis" (as the previous comment states) in NO WAY suggests that you may have an anaerobic bacterial sinus infection.  Anaerobic bacteria do stink, I will grant this person that, but this is not a symptom-free situation.  Try the rinses, they are harmless (putting extracts in them too may or may not be harmless, you are on your own there), but if this persists, you should be seen by an ENT doctor.

If other people can smell the odor, and you have no other symptoms of sinusitis, then you may possibly have an anaerobic bacterial infection in your sinuses.  You can try a Neilmed Sinus Rinse, available on the internet, or a Neti pot.  However, these infections are often in the upper sinuses, and regular sinus irrigation fails, because of gravity.  What works best in this case is a Flip-Turn Sinus Flush, which defeats gravity.

The Flip-Turn Sinus Flush is mildly risky, because you have to bend over to do it, preferably in a shower, but you can also do it outside on soft ground.  Or, go to the comment I made on July 13, 2009 on how to do a sit-up method.

One of the last commenters (ihatesinusproblems) had little success with a Flip-Turn, until he put Grape-Seed Extract in the saline, which seems to have cured the problem.
Check out his posts.

Good luck, and don't give up.

Do others smell it, or only you?  Sometimes this can be something called "phantosmia" where you smell something odd that no one else can (in other words, it's a dysfunction of your nose and not a real odor).  Other explanations can include bacterial infections, but one would think that you would have other symptoms with that as well.  Something simple that you can try is some saline nasal irrigations.  You can buy kits over-the-counter or even make your own salt solution at home.  Just be sure you are using normal saline (sea salt) buffered with some sodium bicarbonate.  If you have other symptoms, you may need to be evaluated for an infection.
