lump on tongue,earache,sore tonsils

hi im a 19 year old female and i have been having earaches, sore neck, fatiuged,sore tonsils, and a pea size lump on the back of my tongue near my tonsils i have been to the doctos two times saying the bump will go down after the medicine but hasn't and i still feel all the syptoms although the bump doesn't hurt at all  the first time he gave me medicine for a virual infection for two weeks and it didn't work then prescribed me bacterial infection medcine for a week and this isn't working either  the bump looks like it is swollen tastebud and is kinda hard. i just want to figure out what this is because i don't hve insurance right now and i have a 9 month old that is had to take care of cause im tired all the time.. i have been brushing my teeth using mouthwash and gargling warm salt water three times a day .. if anyone has any idea what this could be please let me know .. I only have that lump in back of my tongue and I get Earaches. Not sure what it is...just curious what it is. it is almost similur to these but most them have neck pain and i don't have pain in my neck just the lump in back of my tongue not sure if it is a lump or not and the earache....

hi i was wondreing if you could take a look at the picture i posted on my profile and tell me what this may be i went to the doctor and they said nothing is wrong with my ears although they still are hurting me about a 6 out of 10 and they said my taste buds are made like that and the one in the back is larger and inflamed if i don't get better within ten days they are sending me to a ENT and that is freaking me out. the pic i posted is underneath my tongue along the vein and its like a straight line and feels hard i noticed it the day after i started taking my medicine but have no idea what it is.all my family thinks im just parinoid but i know im not i can feel it i just want someone to understand and help me fix whatever this  is.

hi ,
      i was researching on the internet and going through pictures of what the back of my tongue looks and it looks exactly like enlarged circumvallate papillae  i am certain because i have about six  little bumps around the really big one but wasn't really paying attention to the i was wondering if this could be from switching mouth wash because thats about when i noticed them do you think i should switch back to my old mouth wash?.. also would this cause earaches and canker sores because the earaches are the biggest problem i tried ear drops but that didn't help and also got vitamins  .. and i was looking on other websites with people that had this and they say to take probiotics and it clears up in a couple of weeks.. i am probably going to a different doctor tomorrow to get a second opinon and see if they can give me something for my earaches ..which i did have bad earaches as toddler people saying i looked like i was drunk  walking but i don't know if this could be coming back or what but anyways thank you for your help you have really helped me out.

Hi,

The canker sore (aphthous ulcer) is due to vitamin deficiency, stress, antibiotic therapy, etc. I do not think that the ulcer is due to the hypertrophied lingual tonsils. I hope you can get proton pump inhibitors like esomeprazole over the counter. Now as you have developed canker sore, try eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, drink plenty of water as well take some vitamin B-complex. Any more doubts you are welcome.

hi again .. ok so i was noticing today that i have the same bumps in my mouth on the back of my tongue but just smaller in size its almost all of my taste buds it looks like and my gums are redder than usual i also have a canker sore now behind my top front tooth ..can these symptoms that came up be something different than hypertrophied lingual tonsils or  a ectopic thyroid tissue ..and the proton pump inhibitors that you suggested can i get them at the drug store or would i have to get them prescribed ?

Hi,

Do not worry,with the history what you have quoted, I do not see any symptoms of cancer. Your ear pain has not subsided because you did not take proper medications, I suppose. You do try with the things I told you, hope you will recover faster also take proton pump inhibitors (such as Omeprazole/Esomeprazole). Take care.

Hi thanks for your reply .. i was wondering if you thought any of these things could lead to cancer cause i have been having all my symptoms for almost 5 weeks now and they are all the same intensity with my earaches and nothing is helping i keep trying to get my parents to go get insurance for me but they keep putting it off everyone saying nothing is wrong with me but i can tell there is something. i just don't see why my earaches won't at least go away with the medicine my DR gave me.

Hi,

The pea sized swelling behind the tongue must be either a hypertrophied lingual tonsils (it is a lymphoid tissue) which enlarges during a throat infection or an ectopic thyroid tissue. As well, you had an upper respiratory tract infection I presume, because of which you are having ear ache and the throat pain.

You can definitely wait and watch for the progression of the lesion. Once you have done your insurance get an ultrasound of the neck done to rule out ectopic thyroid tissue. Drink plenty of warm water, avoid chilled items, do some steam inhalations. Any more doubts you are welcome.

okay not to like jump the gun or ask any inappropriate questions but do you have oral sex? because if you do then you need to get your guy checked out , because what it sounds like is Herpies, and yes herpies can be in your mouth , so with STD's they are very common to be around any open sores or any where you stick the reproductive areas around . you may also want the doc to check for any sexually transmitted diseases , just in case , okay i hope this helps you alot okay ttyl
