I believe I have found a fix for this horrible condition called Retracted Eardrums. just recently I had a impacted ear wax in my left ear. When I went to the doctor they could not see my eardrum because of the earwax that was next to it. When the doctor removed it he saw that my eardrum was severely retracted. I had a pain, feeling of fullness, sound sensitivity to every little sound especially putting dishes away!!! It felt as if I had an ear infection but when I went back to the doctor they looked and said that I did not have an infection. I tried Afrin and Sudafed (the real Sudafed) for awhile. It did seem to help whith some of the pressure and pain but really never went away. I even tried to pop my ears (Valvasa Maneuver). I could pop my right ear but not my left retracted one. So i started looking up eustachian tube dysfunction. Many stories online which scared the crap out of me! I was now seriously panicking. I was really feeling depressed. It has been about a month and still suffering. I was living in agony. I came across one post of which a guy had the same problem and mentioned taking mucinex. I dismissed it at first but always had it in the back of my mind. So just the other day I decided to try it out of desperation. I purchased mucinex d. It has Guaifenesin 600 mg and Pseudoephedrine HCI 60 mg as the ingredient. I had to turn in the card and get it at the pharmacist. I took it like it says (2 pills) and went to bed. I woke up and slowly started to feel a little different in my ear but still had the symptoms. By the 2nd day I noticed a big difference!!! It felt like my ear was releasing the built up pressure. I could fell my eardrum moving back and forth. Almost like when you drive up a mountain and your ears start to pop. My hearing was starting to improve. Sound was not that sensitive anymore. I was like holy crap!!! Is this really working? So I am now on day 4 and I feel so much better. My ear feels almost back to normal. It feels a little sore but I am sure that is from the trauma my ear has been through. I am so excited. I am going to continue with this for another week and see what happens. I will keep you guys posted on my progress. Please keep me in your prayers.
