Pain after laparoscopy

I wondered if anyone who had had a laparoscopy could tell me how long it hurt for.

I still feel quite alot of pain when walking after a week and wondered if that is normal, as everywhere I read that people resume normal activities after a couple of days.

I am not doubled up or anything, its just like having a constant stitch, and when i take a step, especially around my belling button there is a kind of sharp tugging pain. Also some stabbing pains too that just seem to happn even when sitting still.

Just wanted to know if this is usual, I expcet it is, but thought I would ask others who had had similar, who might tell me how long until the abdomen feels normal again.

Thanks

Jojohez,
Wondering how you're felling a few weeks on. Your storm seems very similar to mine but I'm going in next week. Am so happy I read these stories! Although scary I feel I was so naive about the recovery and so much more prepared now!

Wow this page is brilliant. I had a lap 10 days ago for suspected appendicitis, turned out the pain was from a 6cm dermoid cyst on right Ovary. I do not respond that well to general anaesthetic as have low blood pressure. It took me almost 6 hours to wake fully. I was cut on both sides, navel and just above the pubic line. I couldn't urinate after so had to have a catheter fitted, I ened up staying in hospital for 4 nights as i was struggling so much with the pain and lack of bowel movements. On the final day I was given suppositires, which worked instantly. Water works and BM have not been normal since i've been home. I havn't dared to drive and I am really only managing to get dressed if I have just had pain killers. I have children, so life has to go on, but i feel like such a big baby as cannot seem to function

Hi, I am new to this site so firstly hello!
I had a lap & dye 8days ago and have bad swelling in my abdomen which is getting worse, I look 5months pregnant! I have also gained 8lb in weight even though if anything I have been eating less & healthy food. Has anyone else had this? I went to the dr but he said try senna, which I have and it's worked but the swelling hasn't gone down at all and my weight is still going up.I work hard to keep my weight down so a half stone weight gain is a big deal to me, I don't know how to get rid of it as I already stick to a low fat/ no sugar 1200 cal diet, anyone got any advice? The first couple of days after the op my tummy was only slightly swollen and my weight hadn't changed. But around day 4 my tummy seemed to be getting more swollen and my weight started to go up, I then developed a lump above my belly button which is painful and sore, I have been put on Flucloxacillin as well as the diclofenac in case it's an infection. Other than that I'm just very very tired!
I can't believe they tell us this op is minor and will only take a couple of days to recover from! I'm sure for some lucky ones it is the case but it seems not for me!
Any advice from those that have had any swelling, weight gain from a lap and dye would be great. I just don't know if I should be worried or just sit back and wait for it to go back to normal on its own.

I am 46 and had lap done 5 days ago, removal of ovarian left cyst, was told I can go back to normal activity after 2 days....walked like an old lady and could not bend until today but had to go back to work, mostly desk work but 1hr commute by car one way and some stairs to climb to get there made me feel exhausted, had some pain in belly area and back tonight and had to lay down right after I came home. Look like 5 month pregnant even though I hardly eat. Don't know what to wear to work tomorrow to feel comfortable but still look ok, unfortunately very stylish environment, would look strange in sweatpants, just miss to wear my skinny jeans, but it seems as I would for a while:(((, so helpful to read all of your stories and feels great to not be alone, since dr's seem to be way off with recovery!
