EBV is a virus, so it can be transmitted many ways, like a lot of other viruses. From what I've heard, its transmission is similar to flu viruses, so any way to transmit the flu, EBV can probably also be transmitted. So I would say by kissing, definitely; "otherwise", I still think there's a very good chance.
