No I didn't kiss my sister!

Hello everyone!

I've been bounced around from different forums trying to figure out what my symptoms are due to in the meantime it takes my doctor to give me my blood test results.  Someone messaged me and said I might have Mono.  My symptoms, which some have lasted 2 days, others 2 weeks are: Nausea, Headache, Fatigue(bout 2 weeks), dark urine, joint pains, abdominal pains(all over but sometimes upper right side), macular rash on chest, low grade fever(99.1), easily bruising, long time for wounds to heal, itchy skin all over, lower back pain, loss of appetite, weight loss(15lbs), bone pain, chills, and night sweats.

I have not had a bad sore throat in years, but I did have the mother of all sore throats years ago.  I've heard Mono can come back in people.  Now, my sister was diagnosed with it a few months back.  Can it be spread by eating utensils?  And do those symptoms seem like Mono or could they be common in all viral infections?

Well, I got them this morning.  Turns out I don't have Hep B or C.  My thyriod test TSH says 2.56, and I don't know what the heck that means.  Syphilis is also negative but I already knew that.

This leaves me wondering about IBS, Crohn's Disease, Mono, and some autoimmune diseases.

I do agree with you, though.  I had a TERRIBLE throat infection in the past but never went to the hospital, I just fought it out.  Good chance that was mono, and I never told anyone but on the onset of all my symptoms my tongue was really white.  Never had a throat ache though.

Yes, EBV can be spread through saliva (such as by sharing eating utensils).  However, it's much more likely you had mono at some point in the past, and this is just a re-activation of the virus.  However, the symptoms you've described can match a bunch of different sicknesses, so we really do need those test results in order to form a better opinion on what you're dealing with.
