Sports injury - medial meniscus tear

Hi people. While playing football I injured my knee. I went straight to my GP and was booked in for a MRI scan. The results came back. There is an oblique degenerative tear of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus. 15.4x7.3mm intercondylar notch cyst abutting the posterior margin of the root of the PCL.
Moderate knee joint effusion. Normal retropatellar cartilage.
Noosteochondral Injury.

Will I need surgery or will it heel on its own?

Help please.

Hi there!

A surgery may not particular be required and initial conservative management can be tried in the situation. I would suggest discussing the situation and the suggested management plan in detail with your treating orthopedician.
Hope this helps.

Take care!
