healthy diet, plenty of excercise and no weight loss

Hi.

I am sure this question has been asked plenty of times before but I am completely stumped and am feeling pretty defeated :(
I am a 25 year old female and last May I started excercising regularily and eating healthier. I am 5'4 and I weighed 280 pounds when I started in May. From May to August I lost 35 pounds which was great, but from August until now I have lost about 5 pounds. At first I assumed I was simply plateauing and so I changed the intensity, duration and type of work outs I was doing. When this didn't work I took a week off from the gym hoping that when I returned it would kick start my metabolism. I even kept a food journal and went and saw a doctor to ask if maybe it was my food choices, but he said I was eating healthy and that the only thing he could see was maybe I needed to drink more water, which I have since been doing.
I eat around 1500 calories daily and I do intense cardio for about an hour, six or seven days a week and every second day I do a 20 minute session on the circuit weights.
I am really at a loss as to what else to do. I feel good and I am definately healthier, my blood pressure and resting heart rate are considerably lower than when I started but I would like to see some more weight loss.
Thanks any advice would be appreciated.

Hello!

I would want to add one thing that for a vegetarian it is very important to eat in a healthy way.

You should avoid milk products and if you consume lot of milk products then make sure it is double toned before you consume it.

You should avoid junk food, fast food, sweets, desserts, sodas.

A proper fruit platter, high fibre cereal and grain with salads and green leafy vegetables will give you the required vitamins and minerals.

Cardio activities are the best to lose weight.

Take care!

Thanks for your prompt reply.
I have always shied away from any kind of suppplements and have never tried diet pills, cleanses or any other type of pill to boost metabolism.
There are so many different kinds out on the market it is extremely overwhelming, not to mention the fact that there always seems to be some kind of recall so it is pretty scary.

I am not on any type of vitamins and I am a vegetarian so while I work hard to make sure my diet is complete I am sure I could benefit from some type of multivitamin, however I have an issue with taking large pills and multivitamins always seem to be HUGE :) although I am sure if I actually make the effort I could find a small enough multivitamin.

I have considered doing some kind of a cleanse or crash diet to simply shock my body and perhaps boost my metabolism, but again there are so many to choose from and I do not want to do anything that is unhealthy, so I have been considered doing a fruit cleanse.

I worry though, because my issues in the past regarding diet have not been with over eating but under eating. I used to skip breakfast and lunch, eat once at dinner (and maybe a snack at 2 or 3) and drink the rest of my calories in things like lattes or pop. I have had to work really hard to eat regularily and consume enough calories in healthy food and not drink my calories that I worry that doing any kind of a cleanse or crash diet will undermine all the hard work I have done to eat healthy.

Anyway thanks again for you repsonse I appreciate it.

Weight loss can be just as tricky as weight gain. I am guessing that it's all about your metabolism. If it is slow, then it would explain why you are doing so much but not getting anywhere, or at least what you want.

There are safe products that will speed up your metabolism. The thing is, at one time ephedrine was legal, and when used in moderation and safely had many benifits. However, people could not take it in moderation, they could not take a small amount, and they used it for drugs. So now, thanks to them, other people like myself who used it correctly can't anymore............thanks druggies.

Anyways, I will look for some of these products and you might want to do the same. I STRONGLY advise you to NOT just take anything in desperation. There is safe, which is the way you are going, and there is unsafe that basically defeats the purpose of you wanting to be healthy and living healthy like you are.

Just curious, do you take vitamins?
