Hi,
Generally if the patient is young and has some bone growth remaining only bracing is done. Apart from brace the treatment also includes breathing exercises, physical therapy and chiropractic. In some cases surgery is done especially in cases where there is a likelihood of progression.
Let me know if you need more information.

Scoliosis is simply a lateral curvature of the spine that is contradictory to the natural curvature of the "normal" spine.  Dextroscoliosis means that the curvature is going toward the right side of the body.  Scoliosis can be genetic, can be formed in the womb, and can be positional.  You can give it to yourself by always sitting in a crooked position as you grow up, always slouching, etc. That's why your mother is aways telling to to "sit up straight". Physical therapy can be done to prevent further curvature to develop, slow the development, and in some instances, correct the problem altogether. Treatments can include, exercises to strengthen certain back muscles, braces, breathing exercises, electrical stimulation, casts, surgery, and skin care to name a few.  This is individual to you. good luck.
