3 years no exercise

I have not done any exercise in about 3 years .. Back hen I used my fitness flyer but then somehow I got off track completely and just stopped all together.i have arthritis
in my legs and my knee's and on most dayings my legs and knee's are sore .. I want and see now that somehow some way I need to get back in the groove with exercise .. I use to do 30 to 45 minutes everyday on my flyer but that was then .. I see I have got worse since I stopped exercising .. Please can someone anyone tell me how I should start back up doing exercise? I'm 57 years old my Weight is at 193 and I'm 5'4. Gained a lot of unwanted weight too. I still have my flyer and I bought a Nordic track resistance bike during last summer but just let it sit so I want to use those 2 things but no idea how long I should start out at? Help me please

Arthritis responds to exercise -- movement helps.  But what kind of movement depends a lot of your body and your agility, etc.  When you start, start slowly, and warm up before you hit the speed and resistance you want to reach.  Then see how your body responds to, say, ten minutes.  But it's also good to vary your exercise routine.  But arthritis is an inflammatory condition, and reducing inflammation can involve lots of things -- eating foods that aren't pro-inflammatory, taking supplements that are anti-inflammatory, icing -- lots of things that will help the exercise feel good and you feel good instead of making you feel worse.  But definitely get moving.  You might even, by the way, start out by walking or swimming a bit before you tackle harder exercise just to get back in the swing of it.
