I have been jogging cross country with some extreme 45-65 degree inclines over a 4.5 mile course for the past 8 months. I'm 34, female, 170 lbs, 5ft 7, former bodybuilder (8 yrs ago), about 20 lbs overweight but otherwise healthy. I take 25mg ephedrine, 250 mg caffiene, baby asa, 1 hr before my workout which I've done for many years off and on. I drink between 1-2 gallons of water a day. My resting heart rate is 46. I take birth control and low dose 250 mg tetracycline for occular rosacea plus benadryl OTC q HS for seasonal allergies.
So this morning I am running a very difficult course and during my cool down my heart rate was going down and was about 162 when all the sudden I felt my heart start speeding up, I looked at my polar watch and it went from 160's to 181 within 30 seconds, I could feel it beating in the back of my throat. I was not dizzy, didn't feel nausea or chest pain. I slowed down my walking even more and it took maybe 2-3 min for it to settle back down to the 140's as the cool down progressed. It was weird because it sped up after I was into my cool down, out of nowhere.
I don't think I was dehydrated, was not thirsty, had broken a good sweat, didn't feel extreme exhaustion or heat.
Any ideas? Kinda scared me.
