Hi there!
As advised by gymdandee, hand washing with soap and warm water is a better choice for hand hygiene than alcohol-based hand sanitizers for C. difficile infection prevention. It is also advised to use disposable gloves and gown if possible, when around the patient. All surfaces of contact, especially the toilet should be carefully disinfected with a product that contains chlorine bleach. (C. difficile spores can survive routine cleaning products that don't contain bleach.) You could also use commercially available bleach wipes containing 0.55 percent sodium hypochlorite. Hope this information was useful.
Take care!
Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.
P.P.S. has your sons MD given him Cholestyramine to take when on the antibiotics?
P.S. The bathroom your son uses after each use wash the toilet inside and outside and the seat the toilet handle, sink and faucet, door knobs. Use straight bleach don't dilute it. If the home has a dish washer the hottest setting keep his plates and utensils separate from others
if no dish washer then rinse then use some bleach then wash with kitchen soap. his laundry wash separately on hottest setting and his whites with bleach. DON'T FORGET TO USE DISPOSABLE RUBBER GLOVES ALL THE TIME! I wish him luck and you're a good mom!
WASH, WASH, WASH YOUR HANDS!! I had C Diff Your son must wash often also just plain soap. I suggest you buy surgical gloves to use!! The microscopic spores can also survive for weeks on hard surfaces like a counter, a phone. I also suggest you start taking a good quality
refrigerated type of Probiotics.
