IBS is a condition that has a relation to psychosocial stress. Exercise is known to decrease the stress levels, so any stress relieving activity has a positive effect on the disease process.
You should try starting with mild exercise and should follow the usual guidelines such as avoiding exercising before and after meals, avoiding caffeine or hot drinks and exercise when your intestines are quieter.

My IBS is best relieved with walking or joging- if I can't get out I will walk or jog around my living room which is pretty small so I look pretty silly lol.
