How can I know whether I have an elbow impingement?

From time to time, I experience a tingling numbness in my right forearm when performing certain exercises. I notice it most frequently on heavier weight sets with tricep pushdowns, lat pulldowns, and even occasionally on benchpress.

The sensation feels like a tingle that runs from my elbow down to my small finger. I had been to a physical therapist and a chiropractor for this, but the was unable to reproduce it, and the latter spent the session hawking Biofreeze and orthodic insoles. I only seem to notice this when I am lifting heavier sets, and only after I'm about 15-20 minutes into my workout.

Is this a "tennis elbow" sort of thing? What remedy would you recommend (stretching, changes to form?)? Any good resources to check out?

Thanks very much.

Have you noticed that you're doing a lot of leaning on your elbow lately?  Such as when you're at a desk or while driving or in bed?
