I do know they say 1 glass of red wine a day is good for the heart. Any more than that on a regular basis can have the opposite effect. I do not know of any studies showing that whiskey or gin would benefit your heart. My hubby would love that if so. ;) While they may not benefit your heart, having the odd drink certainly won't hurt it unless you have a condition.

BUT you definately need to speak with your doctor before drinking anything if you are on meds for your blood or heart! Definately not something to play around with.

Alcohol is never a wonderful idea when a person is taking any kind of medication. Drinking may increase or decrease the effects of the medication changing the amount of the drug that is actually working in the body. Alcohol and meds may increase the risks of heart attack and stroke. There is no rule of thumb about how much to drink on a daily or weekly basis. There is no "healthy drinking" range. In most states the limit is 2 light drinks (beer or wine) in one night before the blood alcohol level is illegal to drive or make important decisions.

There actually is a rule of thumb.  The current recommendation is no more than 1 alcoholic drink per day for females, no more than 2 for males.  Since alcohol has a tendancy to increase blood pressure, drinking alcohol is generally not recommended for someone with hypertension.  ALWAYS ask your provider/pharmacist about alcohol consumption when taking medication, even if it does not say anything on the bottle.

I have never advisded anyone to drink any alcohol except Red wine, say one small drink a day. A priest I use to know had told me he use to suffer from heart problems before coming to God and that God helped him. I believe this but I believe that God put him in the situation of being a priest. Because every sunday he would consume alot of red wine in the Communion.
I believe this may have helped him. Do not get drunk or tipsy, a small...'SMALL' glass a day is fine I believe.
In it all, I ask that you consult a doctor before doing any of this as I am no professional, I just go on methods I have used or heard.

   God Bless.
