Hi,
I feel it is a little high for your age as the resting heart rate is normally between 50-80 beats/min. Target heart rate for your age during vigorous activities like running and jogging is 98-166 beats/min.
I would suggest you to lose a little weight and also bring this up during your next annual health exam. http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=4736
Try testing your resting heart rate just as you wake up in the morning. As a 36yo, this gives me 66bpm. However, just like you when I get to a gym, there's the excited stress (some call it 'eu'stress), which results in my resting heart rate being more around 90. Feels absolutely normal, although I'm sure many would say go to a doctor... I simply think that there is quite a margin for healthy people to have differing heart rates.
