I found this answer:
Those are mild muscle spasms. There has been a mild buildup of lactic acid in the most active muscles. At higher concentrations, you get full-blown muscle cramps. During vigorous exercise, the lactic acid builds up faster than your body can get rid of it. In some people, such things as caffeine and dairy products exacerbate this buildup.
I have muscular dystrophy and I am confined to a wheelchair. Recently my old leg exerciser failed on me and I bought a new one. The new power leg exerciser goes much faster than the old one. I still do 30 minutes a day and I have it set to FAST. Probably 1 revolution per second, my legs really fly! After I'm done I just stop it. For 15 or so minutes my legs pop as described. I'm guessing its a good thing for my muscles and circulatory system.
Yes, I am in nursing and have learned this. It is "Fasciculations". Some reasons for the tinging or popping in the muscles are from lack of Magnesium in your diet, or your electrolytes are off. They recommend to eat plenty of banannas, almonds, and drink plenty of water or Gatorade.
I also get this sensation. I can definitely say I don't get the feeling from the underlying muscle, but in the skin. The bubble sensation is the best description I've heard so far. I've read a lot of solutions that talked about the underlying muscle, I've felt that before, this is very different. It's definitely in the skin, the underlying muscle isn't jumping, or tightening, it's actually pretty relaxed.
The sensation isn't painful at all. It's actually very pleasant, like an internal skin masage.
