Muscle Strain

Hello
I quit dance when I was about nine and I recently started doing it again. I also started stretching to improve my flexibility. I've improved a lot and can now do the splits however I recently strained my right leg muscles, especially in the thigh. It's not getting any better and I am getting stiffer and less flexible as it is too painful to stretch.
Is there any way I could stretch again soon and make the muscle loosen again?
Thanks

Thank you for the advice :)
The pain is more in the hamstrings than the quadriceps if this helps. Yes at the moment I am just taking it easy and it seems to be improving! Thanks again

You should rest, ice and elevate the leg and compress the muscle with an elastic bandage . Don't put ice directly on your skin put a towel on then the ice. Is it the quadriceps muscles that's in the front of your leg or the Hamstrings that's in the back of the thigh? You should see your doctor to check it!!
