Pulled chest muscle?

I just a week ago reached over the arm of the couch to reach for something & then could not reach it so I leaned a little further & hurt myself, my chest really hurt kind of bad & the next few days it got worst, it hurts to sneeze or cough and it is very uncomfortable trying to sleep, I took ibuprophen (2) twice/day but it does not seem to help much, it also hurts to bend over.   What is going on here?  Pulled muscle?  How long before I can work out & what can I do in the way of exercise?  Thanks.

Food for thought,  I recently had a pretty bad case of Bi-Lateral Pulmonary Embolism which was missed becuase "I didn't fit the profile".  I'm 43, in good shape bla bla bla.  Anyway when I was talking to the sharp Nurse Practitionor who did the right test that may have saved my life she told me about another very fit guy who was training for a triathlon and his left shoulder/chest hurt and finally came in to have it looked at.  He was in his early 30's by the way.  Turned out has was having a major heart attack but due to his conditioning was able to deal with it.  Regardless he was medivacked to a hospital to deal with the situation.

I suggest having it checked out.

Where in the chest? Is it closer to your sternum or shoulder?
