Hello!
There is no reason to worry; you are doing 5 kms regularly!
It is only about increasing the intensity and the distance gradually and in a progressive way.
You should follow a strict diet plan, discuss with a dietician.
Take care!
Hi Deepie,
I'm not a health professional, but am a keen runner these days.
5k is still a fair old distance. Not 10k, but you should be pleased with how you're doing. That's still over 3 miles. For me, I visualise how far that could be, or where I could end up in that distance. For instance, 3 miles is equivalent of running into my old town, which always seemed like a long way. 5k is a very solid distance. 5000 metres!
If I get unmotivated, I change my mindset how I approach the run. I might tell myself to run for time rather than distance, and not think about pace. If no-one is about I might do some high skipping or play with my pace, just to mix it up, take my mind off timings and distance. My intention is to just enjoy the run.
Maybe you could try a 5k event! Get the memento and be chuffed. And 5k is a good foundation to run 10k for most people, no problem, if that is your goal.
