On going calf pain for 12 years??? time to fix it!

my wife has had very tender and painful calf muscle in her right leg for nearly 12 years now, doctors tried to pass it off saying the other muscle is weak and this one is compensating etc...it stops her sleep pattern and it is worse after wearing heals for work..after some massage and shaking side to side of calf it seems to give some relief for 20 mins or so , then it creeps back....any ideas as I really need to find a permanent solution for her.....could i t be an old sports injury? (she is only 27) she used to play a lot of league basketball in her teens? some tear or rupture that has not healed properly?

if anyone has had the same or heard of something lasting so long please reply.

Thx

Hello!

It is possible that past injury may give nagging pain if this involves a muscle, tendon or a ligament.

I would suggest you to go for an MRI to diagnose any soft tissue injuries and follow up with an orthopedician.

After she gets a go ahead signal from her orthopedician she would need physiotherapy to strengthen her muscles. She has to increase the tone and strength gradually.

Take care!
