Tear from benchpressing

I’m 24 years old.  I Just recently got back into weight training.  I had been working out for about 3 months.  I don’t tend to use heavy weight anymore but i still like to load up the bench-press from time to time.

The day prior to my injury i had done a bunch of pushups and still felt a little tenderness in my chest.  I went to the gym with a buddy of mine and after warming up i put 275lbs on the bench (which usually I’m capable of getting nearly 8-10 reps).  On the 6th rep i felt pain something in between my right pectoral muscle and shoulder.  I noticed it immediately and knew something was wrong. I dropped the weight to prevent further damage and let my buddy take it off of me.

Now even immediately after this happened i didn’t have a lot of pain.  Only if i tried to put pressure or use my chest muscle.  It’s been about 2 weeks and i don’t feel any pain from it anymore day to day. But even trying to do one pushup i can feel intense stinging like a drill into the spot i felt the injury.

My assumption is that i have a minor tear in the muscle. There is no bruise and no sign of serious muscle tear and never was aside from when i try to do a pushup or something of that sort.  I have been heating it up and icing it once a day and trying to stretch it out and move it.

Any advice could help me tremendously you guys are the only chance i have.  I need to self heal myself.

My husband tore his peck last year and a minor tear this year. I would recommend going and seeing an ortho and have it looked at. I would NOT workout because depending on the tear and the location you can comletely tear the muscle and it might not be repairable, give it time to heal.

When you tear your chest you don't always seen the bruise on the chest you can see it on the inside of your bicep. I wish you well.

You know just as well as anyone the wonders of protein.  Up your intake and don't use the muscle give it a chance to heal.  I was gonna wait for some sort of PA or MD to respond before I said anything but It looks like you've been waiting a while.  I'm sure you've already tried this - good luck.
