The AACE new guidelines for being in normal TSH levels is NO longer .5 to 5.0. The actual correct range is .3 to 3.0.
At your last TSH reading your results proved you to be hypothyroid - even using the old scale proved this but as you can see you are a bit higher using the new reference ranges.
I am not understanding how the last post states to decrease your thyroid medication when in reality that will raise your hypothyroidism more and complicate things even more so with a pregnancy or other issues like increasing hypo sympotms.
You have had a removal of the gland so you will need to be leveled off into a eurthyroid (medicated) state and be there for at least 6 months prior to concieving. If you do not allow your body to become adapted to the medication and become eurthyroid then you risk many complications for the babay.
I would like to see you visit the thyroid community here on Med Help. I am part of that community. I developed my thyroid problems after I had my children and I have no plans on getting pregnant now.
Many there have alot of solid information to share with you.
Stop over.
Hello,
Normal levels of TSH are 0.5-5mIU/L.Your TSH is still raised which means hypothyroidism. In order to get pregnant, make sure that your thyroid is really well regulated. For that, pls consult your endocrinologist for decreasing the dose of eltroxin. After this the normal levels of thyroid hormones are confirmed by doing several blood tests that show your hormones to be normal. Women with hypothyroidism usually ovulate once they are well controlled.
After conception also, regular thyroid hormones screening is essential.Pls do not stop taking eltroxin when pregnant.A baby's thyroid gland isn't fully functional until after 12 weeks of pregnancy. If you don't have sufficient thyroid hormones, you are at an increased risk of miscarriage, and your baby is at increased risk of developmental problems. So regular eltroxin is essential. Also pls remember that during the first trimester the dose of eltroxin might have to be increased. This is due to the increased estrogen levels of early pregnancy. So as soon as you confirm your pregnancy, close monitoring of the thyroid hormone levels will be required.
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do kep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.
