Hi,
Does your son exercise?
Does he have a regular exercise routine?
His ideal weight, calculated for a medium frame, is around 190 lbs.
Are his parents on the thinner side, or well-built?
As mentioned in my previous post, quantity alone is not the determining factor in healthy weight gain.
A balanced diet would help greatly with the kind of weight gain he needs to acquire.
Inclusion of red meat and other high-calorie foods (such as liver) would help add more calories to his diet without adding bulk.
Dry fruits and nut, or milkshakes made from them, are another high-calorie food.
Exercise, specifically resistance exercises (such as weight-lifting) add muscle to the body.

Hi,
How much do you currently weigh?
And what is your height?
Quantity is not the only factor that can increase absorption or weight gain.
It is important to have a balanced diet, and primarily one suited for weight gain as per your body type.
Having regular meals 3-4 times a day is an important factor in staying healthy.
If you need to gain weight, you need to increase the amount of carbohydrates and fats in your diet, along with the requisite amount of protein.
A normal composition consists of carbohydrates 60-70%, Protein15-20% and the rest Fats.
Exercise is essential to gaining weight right.
Set up an exercise routine that is easy to follow, even simple walking for 15-20 min a day would count, and gradually increase the protein content in your diet if exercising at the gym or doing more strenous exercise.
