10 months post ERM surgery, seeing wavy distortion. Does this improve?

Even though one eye is still good with minor cataract (2+) and large black floater, I am now seeing distortion with both eyes. When does this go away, or does it?  My doctor is wanting to do a vitrectomy and cataract on the good eye, to make it stronger to compensate better.  He can do both at same time. Is this distortion typical of ERM surgery or am I the exception?>
