Hi;
I had a vitrectomy with all the works, photogoag laser 360 degrees around the retina, sclera buckle and gas. All an attempt to keep the left eye from having additional retinal detachment, surgery date was April 12th 2010.
I have also noticed a single black spot in my field of vision, primarily when the eye is exposed to bright sun light, maybe the pupil closing to limit the amounth of light thus causing addtional internal pressure?. The spot wil diseappear when the amount of light into the eye is reduced. I have floaters and the gas bubble is still 50% or more in the field of vision.
Surgeon also says it's normal for the floaters and the spots, with time these should improve.

What disease condition was the vitrectomy done for?

Hello John,
Thanks for your reply and sorry for the vagueness in the story.
Let me try to be more precise on the characteristics of the black spots she has as she described to me:
-> They are static in nature, always stays in the same place and not moving around.
-> They are very tiny but lot in numbers
-> They are not externally visible to anyone, meaning to us her eyes looks clean.
-> She doesn't have any pain in eyes.
-> They just started appearing all of sudden last week.
One thing to note : Couple weeks back , she stopped the steroids she was taking. Could there be any linkage between the Steroids and the black spots?
Not sure if this information helps.
No the story is too vague to be precise. The black spots could be blood, vitreous floaters, inflammatory cells, air/gas bubbles, silicone oil, inflammed retina, etc
