retinal

I had a pars plana vitrectomy/endolaser/gas procedure to repair a localized detached retina in my right eye on 4/28/10. A subsequent cataract developed and I was seen by a cataract surgeon at that time (8/22/10) I was told I also had a macular pucker this was also confirmed by my retina specialist. My vision after the cataract removal improved to 20/40. My retina specialist prescibed prednislone and xibrom drops BID for the macular pucker. At todays visit (10/19/10) my the retina surgeon said everything with my retina looked fine with no problems and to DC the prednislone today and the xibrom when the bottle is empty. The problem is my vision is now worse 20/80 than it was previosly. My question is what could be impairing my vison in that eye. I was on the eyedrops for almost two months. Any responses are greatly appreciated. Thank you

The drops would not cause the condition to worsen. See your cataract surgeon, be sure this is not due to change in glasses or the membrane behind the IOL turning cloudy. If it is all due to size and contraction of the macular pucker then you will either need to live with it until it gets worse OR discuss with the retina surgeon the risks/benefits of doing a membrane peel.
