Thanks JodieJ and Ace399,
20/25 but I think the after surgery tests are biased. Please forgive
my lack of trust in the feild of opthamology but I can't even see well enough
to walk around if I had to rely on my operated eye. Most annoying is the
arc in my central field of vision. It's crecent shaped and depending
on which direction the light source is comming from, the crecent
faces the left or right. JodieJ, I wish I had taken your words of wisdom
in which lens to choose, as your words were very sound. 4 dr.s all recommended
Crystalens to me. No one to blame but me. No worries though, I'm sure if it gets too
bad I can always pay a dr. to replace the lens and I will count it as a lesson learned.
Don't give up so soon! Did you say that your distance vision was 20/25 the day surgery? This is actually very good. (Has it gotten worse?) If only your intermediate vision is sharp, you may be mildly nearsighted. This can be corrected.
As I recall from your previous posts, you are only in your early 30's, and you don't have a cataract in your other eye. So you should not need to wait till your other eye is done to get near vision from your Crystalens.
In another very recent thread, Dr. Oyakawa wrote about all the tricks an experienced surgeon can use to get good performance from the Crystalens HD. I think there's hope that yours can work for you.
It's still early yet, so be patient and give it a chance. I had a Crystalens HD that did not work out and my Dr. replaced it with a new Resator lens. My problem was the CL HD did not accommodate and eventually ended up near sighted.
To correct my previous post, I do notice major edge glare now. I had thought the glare was from the healing process but now I can pinpoint it to sources of light. Looks like I really bought the doc's snakeoil when I was sold this lens...I will try pilo drops next week to see if that helps. Hummm, I wonder if Bausch and Lomb makes pilocarpine to go along with the distance and reading glasses they can sell me.
I payed the doctor $3,500 extra for this lens, Bausch and Lomb pays them a little kickback + consultation fees (i.e. payoff money) and I am made to suffer. Over a hundered thousand Crystalens surgeries and they can't define who would be a good canadite for their lens? Can't or don't want to? I should never have drank their Kool Aid.
Dr. Oyakawa,
Distance is not good, only intermediate. Shouldn't distance be good already?
You are only one week out. I usually keep my patient in reader for two weeks then start the exercise card. If distance and intermediate is good, the near should improve. However, you will not get the maximum benefit until your right eye is done. Since it can not accommodate, it may limit your near. Accommodation is a binocular function.
