Deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty - Is this a good treatment for keratoconus

Hi,

My brother is having keratoconus in his both eyes.

1. Left Eye:
He had undergone Collagen cross linking in his left eye 5 months before. Now the vision in his left eye is 20/20. But in his recent checkup doctor told him that Keratoconus is still progressing in his left eye. Is this common. Dont know what to do for left eye.

2. Right Eye:
Doctors advised him, collagen cross linking is not suitable for his right eye as the thickness is less than 400Microm. They advised him to go for DALK. Is this an appropriate treatment? What is the success rate? how long will it take to recover?

He is a very good student. Because of all this he stopped his studies at the moment.

Thanks a lot in advance

For corneas with < 400mm thickness, pl try C3r with hypotonic riboflavin.
DALK or any other form of transplant carries the risk of rejection and delayed healing.
