Double Vision

I was diagnosed with double vision (horizontial) in May 2012.  I was prescribed glasses with prisms.  February 2013 I had to return to the Ophthalmologist, again new glasses with 3.00 prism.  Now just 6 months later, I have again returned to the Ophthalmologist, now 6.00 prism.  Can you tell me why I would have that much change in such a short time?
It is recommended that I see a neuro-opthamologist and have an MRI.  My GP, prior to May 2012 referred me for a sinus MRI, which indicated no problem with the sinuses.  (I was having pressure behind my eyes constantly).  Once glasses were prescribed the pressure went away.  The pressure has now returned with this new change.

Update;  MG is ruled out with blood work, MRI, EMG and Tensilon.    Diagnosis from the Neuro. Opthamologist is Alternating Esophoria.  Return to regular eye Dr. in 2 months.  New glasses with 6.00 prisms are very helpful.

Good to have this diagnosis made.  Usually MG double vision responds well to medication.

Update;
I have had my consultation with the Neuro-Opthamologist, and the preliminary diagnosis is Myasthenia Gravis.  Had blood work, and am awaiting the MRI.  Will start medication today to see if that helps with the double vision.

Thank you Dr. Hagan for your reply.  I see my GP this coming week for the referral to the Neuro-Opthamologist.
