Eye Care

I have been given dilated eye exam 6 times plus twice was given fluorecent angiogram within less than one year time. One of the doctors had told me that I have retinopathy and some aneurysms. The second last time I went to see him, he gave me my second angiogram. After that, My eyes become very sensitive to light. Any sunlight, ipad glare, night lights, sometimes even room lights. it has been more than two weeks this condition still remains and I got headache while in the sun today. I do wear sunglasses all the time even before all the test. last week, I went back to the doctor office but saw another two doctors from the same office and they both told me that I do not have any retinopathy. One of them told me that I have early cataract. Could I have retina burn or is it caused by the dilation? My pupils sometimes do seem larger than they used to be, they also do shrink sometimes. Is my condition permanent and is er eanything I can do to heal my eyes? do I need to do more eye exam and that is what I dread now after this experience. My sugar tend to go high at times but not too bad. A1c 5.7.  Please help!!

Yes you can ask for copies of your tests and records. Know that legally these belong to the physician and you likely will have to pay for the costs of copying and reproducing.

The other doctors who told me I don't have retinopathy looked at the angiogram photos to tell me that I do not have retinopathy. They did not look at my eyes directly because they were not dilated. The other doctor who looked at my eyes and told me I have it did look into the eyes and also the photos. He also told me he see the retinopathy in the photos. What I remember seeing in those photos was that the blood vessels or capillaries, some of them seem very thick. but i do not see any dots around them. In your opinion, do you think I have retinopathy or aneurysms? Also, do you think I canI get copies of the pictures from the office to ask for second opinions so that I don't have to dilate my eyes and take photos again. o I need to do dilation, photos or fluorescent angiogram to test for cornea abrasion or erosion?
Thank you.

While its impossible to tell for sure this may be helpful.  The test could not cause retina burns and they are not painful. Retinopathy and micro aneurysms are often scattered around the eye and difficulty to see especially if the eye is not dilated.

The most common thing that would cause symptoms like you had after the test is a corneal abrasion..

My suggestion is that you get a second opinion outside the group you are now seeing.  Before any drops are put in the eye at the consultant have the Eye MD ophthalmologist look at your cornea. Tell him/her you are worried about a corneal abrasion or corneal erosion

An A1c of 5.7 is great.
