Eye problem

A week ago my eyes seemed blurry on one day so i decided to put a couple of drops of my wifes saline contact solution (generic Target brand) in to see if that would help.  I don't have any vision probalems and see 20/20.  Then next day below my eye was all red where the saline had ran onto my cheek.  Also since I have put this in my eye i have had a foreign body sensation in my eye and a itchy feeling and and slightly blurred vision and heavy eyelids.  My eye isn't red of wasn't ever red.  The redness under my eye cleared up after 3 days. It has been 7 days since I have put this in my eye but still feel the same thing with not much improvement.  I have tried to put perservative free drops in as well with no success.  I have went to an eye doctor and didn't get any answers.  Is it possible that I was alergic to the drops and they really dried out my eye and are causing all of these problems?  Should it have gotten better after 7 days or can it tak longer than that to heal itself?  What else could I do. .

It was a similar cleaning solution to Renu Fresh multipurpose solution.  Could this have caused an irritation and dried out my eyes and will it get better or should it have already?  I guess I just am looking to know if it will get better over time.

It was the cleaning solution but I used them as drops.  Under my eye got all red from the drops that fell on my cheek and was irritated for about 3 days thats why I was wondering if it could have really irritated and dryed out my eye but just not cleared yet.  my wife says she puts the soution in her eyes all the time but maybe my eyes didn't like something in the solution.

Saline eye drops for contacts is not the same as cleaning solution.  In any case after a week if it was the drops it should be clear.

Eye drops have always caused problems for me and now I put in contact solution which isn't the same and normal eye drops I dont think.  I am just wondering if even though my eyes arent red this could have dried them out and irritated them and it could take longer than a week to heal?

It is very unlikely that you're allergic to something as mild as saline eye drops.

Ask your personal physician MD to refer you to an Eye MD ophthalmoloigst or find one near you at www.geteyesmart.org
