Flashes in eye?

What can cause flashes in the eyes? I mostly get flashes in my left eye but sometimes it can be in both of my eyes. I was scared it could be a retinal tear so I got my eyes checked out 3 days ago and everything came out normal. My retina/vitreous is healthy and other eye tests came out normal as well. Now I wonder what could be causing my flashes? Its been almost 3 months since I first started seeing them and they're annoying:/

Docs told me not worry about them and ignore them :/

First of all be sure your exam was done by the "eye doctor" with the greatest skill and training and that would be an Eye MD ophthalmologist.  If you did not see one schedule a medical eye exam with one. If you did see an Eye MD then the flashes could be optical reflexes if you wear glasses, contacts or need glasses or contacts and don't wear them. Another common cause is awareness of entoptic  or entopic phenomena which has been discussed at length many times her. Start by reading the section on entoptic phenonena at Wikipedia.
