Floaters in the eye

About 2 weeks ago I sustained a blow to my face. A few hours later, I developed light flashes in my peripheral field of vision and then I had a sudden increase in floaters in my eye. I am myopic. I had a complete eye examination with pupil dilatation the next day. I was told that I had a posterior retinal detachment but no retinal tear. I was given anti inflammatory eye drops to put in both eyes for a month, twice a day and have a recheck in 1 month. Since then I have floaters in my central field of vision. Cannot really ignore them. How can I prevent further complications of this condition in this eye and prevent the occurrence of the same in the other eye ? Do the floaters become less obvious with time ?

You likely have a posterior vitreous detachment not a retinal detachment. Use the search feature and archives and read about floaters and posterior vitreous detachments. Ask your eye MD ophthalmologist these questions as he/she is in the best position to answer.
