I took my 4 year son to pediatric ophthalmologist and was diagnosed with Ocular melanosis. We are still skeptical on the initial diagnosis and are seeking a second opinion. One of the main question that we have is that Can this happen to a 4 yr old? Are there specific tests that could confirm the same?
Also, What are the repercussions and long term effects for having this? Are there specific treatments available? Can this turn into something more serious?
Am sorry for too many Qs...we are just too concerned.
Thank you!
yes I know about ocular melanosis. Those are usually brown, large, confluent and irregular in shape and can be anywhere not just at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions.

Do you know anything about ocular melanosis? Does these grayish spots has to do anything with it?
Thank you
Ask your pediatrician or ophthalmologist. those are usually translucent spots in the sclera in front of the medial and lateral rectus eye muscles. As the child gets older and the sclera gets thicker they usually go away. Do see a MD about it though.
