Detached Retina

I am 1 week out of surgery for a detached retina. The fluid from the tear had moved across the middle of the eye before the surgery was performed. The retina was repaired and a gas bubble was injected into the eye at which it is now more than half way down in my vision. Im sure  it is a bit premature to ask but the vision above the line seems to be getting better each day . The only thing that disturbs me is that at the center of anything I focus on is off. Meaning that if I look at a person and center on their face the body is normal but the face is shrunken. Will this improve with time or will it remain the same? If it stays the same will It be able to be corrected with glasses?

Only time will tell but when the reading part (macula) is pulled off it often does not recover normal vision and frequently leave the very center distorted. It will be a long time (as much as 6-12) months before the final result will be known.  Glasses may or may not help. Additional surgery may or may not help. Sorry but I'm being frank with you. Hope and pray for the best.

I have had 5 retina surgeries. Of course, the doctor here is right. Please take care of your eye, as the doctor treating you instructs, Also, protect your good eye by wearing shatter-proof glasses.

If you have a disappointing outcome, you can get a second opinion, to reassure you that you have done the best you can for your eye.
